Top Slip - 90km from Tiruppur
It is 37 Km form pollachi.
Top Slip is at an altitude of 800 meters and the forest area around this
place is a home to various kinds of fauna like elephants, tigers,
panthers, gaurs, and a wide variety of birds. The range of mountains
around this place are often called as the Elephant Hills (hence the name
- Anamalais). One of the attractions in the Anamalai hills is the Indira
Gandhi Wildlife sanctuary.

Anamalais is located along the Western Ghats
and is in the border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu and comes under the
Coimbatore district. The name top slip comes from the practice carried
out in 19th century, of sliding logs of teak timber down the hills that
took place in this area. It is also here that reservation check-ins
occur, forest rangers can be found, and forest jeeps are rented. |
